What is trance?
Trance is a naturally occurring space; we are all in and out of a trance type space often without being aware of it.
I can’t be hypnotised
Many people have this preconception, or have tried to be hypnotised in the past and it hasn’t worked. Several important factors need to present, such as trust and connection to your therapist; otherwise your conscious mind will simply put the brakes on.
How does it work?
When your mind is relaxed and open, you become highly suggestible; working with a skilled hypnotherapist whom you trust is then very effective and can allow a gentle re-programming to take place, instilling in you deep inner change which, like seeds, grow in your mind.
What happens afterwards?
You will feel relaxed, lighter in yourself and more at one, almost a feeling of coming home to yourself. In the hours and days following a treatment new ideas and thoughts may just come to you straight from your subconscious mind. You should feel lighter and more motivated.
How long do the effects last for?
If you really want to move forward and make changes in your life, this can be an incredibly helpful treatment and the benefits will be permanent/long lasting. If part of you ‘hangs on’ to your old behaviour/s in some way, then the effects can be short lived.
How many treatments will I need?
For weight loss, emotional issues, addictions, allow for four/six sessions. Phobias are highly responsive in just one treatment. Generally your Hypnotherapist can give you a clearer idea from the first session or at a pre-treatment meeting – Katy is quite happy to offer a ten minute assessment, free of charge.
Are there any contra-indications?
Hypnotherapy should be avoided if you are an Epileptic or on a high dosage of anti-depressants
